ATREYU Streams Diverse New Song "Save Us", Announces New Lineup

So, is it fake heavy?

So, is the new Atreyu single "Save Us" actually a heavy track? Or is it #fakeheavy like ex-vocalist Alex Varkatzas said it would be? Well, maybe it's a little of both. "Save Us" definitely has some really heavy parts, don't get me wrong. But there are also a lot of sections that seem to be right out of the Avenged Sevenfold and Muse playbooks, adding some radio-friendly rock to the mix.

Still, Atreyu said in a statement that the song is "one of the heavier songs we've ever written."

"'Save Us' is not only a reflection of where we are musically, but also a mirror to the world in this ominous moment in time," the band said in a collective statement. "We chose to pair the powerful message with one of the heavier songs we've ever written. This song feels like the anthem that we all need right now. To us, it's a call to action to light the fire in ourselves. We can begin to make great change — but only if we look inside first."

Alongside the new single comes a brand new linup for Atreyu. The band has announced drummer and clean vocalist Brandon Saller will be the band's new full-time vocalist, while new drummer Kyle Rosa will fill Saller's spot behind the kit. Atreyu's coming record will be their first-ever effort without Varkatzas, who departed the group earlier this year.
