METALLICA's JAMES HETFIELD & KIRK HAMMETT Played The National Anthem Before A San Francisco Giants Game

They had a blast.

Metallica SF Giants

Metallica hosted their eighth-annual Metallica night at Oracle Park on May 24 as the San Francisco Giants played against the New York Mets. The night featured Metallica playing the National Anthem (which you can watch below), throwing out the first pitch, and "a few other pre-game shenanigans." The band also sported guitars and amplifiers showcasing the MLB's new City Connect uniforms, which are specifically designed to express the overall vibe and look of each team's home city.

Better yet, Metallica offering fans a chance to win both the James Hetfield Signature Series ESP Snakebyte Guitar and Kirk Hammett Signature Series ESP KH-2 Guitar they used during the performance. Fans can head over to Fandiem to donate for a chance to win. According to the band, both guitars feature custom graphics added specifically for the game and were autographed by all four members Metallica. Just like with the other All Within My Hands campaigns this April and May, all funds raised by this Fandiem sweepstakes will go to World Central Kitchen's #ChefsForUkraine fund.

As has been reported here, there's a lot of activity in the Metallica camp, though nothing that points directly to a follow up to 2016's Hardwired…To Self-Destruct. In the meantime, the band has launched one hell of a vinyl turntable in conjunction with Pro-Ject that you can check out here.
