Remember a few months ago when the tracklisting for Motorhead's new album, Black Magic, came out it was revealed the band would be covering The Rolling Stones' "Sympathy for the Devil." It was confusing, until Lemmy revealed in an interview that WWE COO Triple H actually personally requested it, so the band did it. I'm assuming that Lemmy assumes that WWE will eventually use the track as the theme song for a PPV, giving Lemmy some sweet, sweet royalty cash. But that's just my assumption.
Anyway, with the album release imminent, the band is currently streaming the track:
As excited as I was to hear this, I'm not exactly blown away by the final result. It's just a by the numbers cover for the most part, with some Lemmyisms. Why bother?
Motorhead's Black Magic comes out this Friday, Aug. 28. Buy it on Amazon for $9.99.
