Metallica recently released their new single "Lux Æterna," which meant that it was time for the entire Internet to have an opinion on Lars Ulrich's playing and drum tone. If you wanted to jump into that conversation with a little more nuance, then definitely check out the isolated drum tracks from the single below! It's worth noting that the tracks seem to be isolated by an AI, so it's not exactly the intended production of the single… but you get the idea.
Personally, I think Ulrich's playing on the single is very Motörhead-esque and does a great job keeping up the energy.
Metallica will release 72 Seasons on April 14. The album is 12 tracks and 77-minutes (so no more double albums from Metallica at the moment), and is available for pre-order here. Metallica will also hit the road throughout 2023 and 2024 at one of the many dates below.
