Trivium played Wacken over the weekend and played a new song for the first time ever. The song is called "Strife."
Bassist Paolo Gregoletto posted the following about the track:
Strife grew on me big time through out the recording. It went from being a song I was unsure of to a definite first single (which was a close one between ["Vengeance Falls"] and this one.) The intro is fucking massive and will give anyone that likes guitar tone a boner guaranteed. The verse vocals have Matt starting off in a lower register, gradually climbing into a more pissed off menacing voice with some screams layered in. This is already one my favorites to play in the set, it’s anthemic and battle tested at Wacken. Heavy metal!
And here is a live version of the track, ripped from the audio at Wacken:

Now obviously, I will reserve full judgement until I hear the studio version. The guitar parts initially are quiet epic and I feel that moreso with this song than their initial track, "Brave The Storm", the fingerprints of Disturbed frontman David Draiman, who produced the album, are very evident. Especially with the vocal delivery. Ultimately, I'm not sure if I like the track yet. I have to hear the studio version.
Trivium's new album, Vengeance Falls comes out October 15th on Roadrunner.
