TRIVIUM's Matt Heafy Drops Sea Shanty-Themed Wellerman EP

Trivium had the crowd thrashing and moshing.

Matt Heafy, of Trivium and now his own solo career fame, has just released the three-song Wellerman EP. The EP focuses on the TikTok-viral sea shanty "Soon May the Wellerman Come", which originated in the 1860s in New Zealand, and features a few different version.

"I didn't pick 'Wellerman' as a cover to do something 'viral,'" said Heafy. "It was one of those songs — when you hear it, 'it sounds like something Matt Heafy would cover.' It was suggested by a close pal who thought exactly that."

The EP features guest vocals by Livia Zita and has a standard version, as well as both a folk and a cappella version. Wellerman is available digitally now.
