Thrash metal is a hard genre to get right, especially in this dangerous modern era where so much thrash just feels rehashed. Fortunately Death Of Kings don't fall into any of the traditional pitfalls of the genre.
Though they stick to a lot of the standard tropes and bring their trademark stomp to the fore, they also are unafraid to kick your face in with a few unorthodox moments, like their blackened snarl, twisting the neck off the listener. At the same time, they get what's so fun about the genre and why we listen, adding in healthy doses of bands like Testament and Exodus to their hyper powered sound.
Perhaps that's why their new record, Kneel Before None has remained such an addictive listen for me. It's self aware but also excited to keep pushing forward and create a whole new world of thrash metal madness. Jam it here!
