Olympia, Washington's NWOBHM-inspired Christian Mistress is preparing to release its third album in five years, and, to whet the appetite of headbangers, Relapse Records, the band's label since 2011, has just released the first taste of To Your Death. The album is scheduled for release on September 18th but 'heads with a thirst for traditional metal can give a listen to "Open Road" right now. The track is a propulsive mix of early 80s heavy metal and hard rock that's anchored by vocalist Christine Davis's soulful, raspy voice. It's an appropriate track to blast while you're screaming down the highway in a muscle car.
To support the release of To Your Death, Christian Mistress will be touring the Pacific Northwest throughout July with kindred metal spirits Sabbath Assembly. The band has also scheduled a wider North American tour in September where they'll be supported by High Spirits and Savage Master before hopping across the pond to lay waste to Europe in October.
