Portland, Oregon-based Urzeit is making a much anticipated return to the metal underground this year. The trio is comprised of members from blackened doom project, Mizmor, USBM titans, Ash Borer, and a handful of projects that appear in the Vrasubatlat label roster (Triumvir Foul, Serum Dreg, and Uškumgallu). Their last appearances came in 2014, when they released a demo and took part in a couple of stellar splits. After roughly a two-year layoff, Urzeit has returned with news of a full-length album, Anmoksha, on the horizon and a couple new songs to hold fans over until the release.
The two new tracks premiered at Black Metal & Brews last week along with a great writeup about the band and music. "Imnagas" and the title track are the opening songs on Anmoshka. They strike with a resounding ferocity that makes your typical black metal look frail and meek. Urzeit's music takes little pieces from the members' other projects to create its own sound that is ultimately singular. Think of it as familiar pieces that make a frightening and unique whole.
Anmoksha will be set loose on the masses October 10 through the aforementioned Vrasubatlat. In the meantime, enjoy "Imnagas" and "Anmoksha" below. It is also highly recommended that you check out the rest of the label's releases as well, you are in for a treat.
