Maynard James Keenan main gig might be the frontman of Tool, but he's a full-time troll, and he doesn't need to get paid for that. A recent trolling by Maynard that comes to mind is when he almost convinced Head from Korn that Maynard too wants to find Jesus.
The latest on Maynard's trolling comes from Glamour of all places. The women's magazine was doing an oral history on Lilith Fair, the late-90s all-female festival organized by Sarah McLachlan and featuring such 90s acts like Jewel, Sheryl Crow and the like. Maynard wanted to get on the bill too! He tells Glamour:
“I asked our booking agent to request an offer to play,” Keenan said. “He did. They declined.”
It's pretty clear Maynard wasn't serious. He just wanted to be officially rejected. “I wanted the ‘thank you but no thank you’ letter to frame. Never got it.”
Meanwhile, Tool are about 90% done with their new album.
Another Maynard troll resurfaced recently, when Frances Bean Cobain, the daughter of late Nirvana frontman Kurt Cobain and Courtney Love, posted a message on Instagram about where to find Maynard's famous shirt that he wore in the late 90s, when Love wasn't exactly a model mother:
