Matt Heafy has always been one of the nicest guys I know, someone I like to call a friend from the past 12 years of working with Trivium. So it came as no surprise when he called me to talk about his T-shirt collection, and the different ways we can go about doing something positive with them. Naturally, the answer was to set up an auction for a cause we can both get behind, a cause the metal community can get behind!
"Collecting metal shirts is something I've been doing my entire life. To this day, my closet is engulfed in a sea of black metal shirts (black, black metal shirts as well). I've been going through my older collection and I realized I have numerous doubles and triples, mutant altered sizes spanning the very tiny and the very large. I hope my old collection brings joy or fills a special spot in someone's collection, but most importantly I look forward to all the proceeds going to a cause near and dear to me. Metal music isn't just something we turn on and off, it's what fuels us and keeps us alive – through good, bad, and ugly." – Matt Heafy
We invite you, the metal community, to take part in our charitable auction. 100% of the proceeds will be donated to the VH1 Save The Music Foundation, a nonprofit organization dedicated to restoring instrumental music education programs in America's public schools. The auction ends August 27th, with proceeds going directly to Save The Music by Sept 1st, just in time for the new school year.
