OPETH To Go Into "Hibernation" After One Last Show In November

Hmmm… for how long?

Hmmm... for how long?

Opeth has pretty consistently released records every three years for the last decade and even celebrated the 10th anniversary of Ghost Reveries this year alongside the band's own 25th anniversary. So what's next for the band after all that madness? Some kind of unspecified break, according to an announcement on the band's Facebook.

“Just a quick note from us to you all who attended the 25th anniversary shows. Truly it’s been a remarkable experience for us, and I will never forget this little trip. One of my best experiences personally, but also one of the more exhausting experiences I’ve ever been part of.

We had fun, and YOU we’re GREAT! Thank you so much for your love and support. Now we’ll go into hibernation of sorts, even if we’ll rock around the clock at the Metal Hammer Paradise show on November 13. Our last show. Until next time. Once again: THANK YOU!”

Unfortunately we can't tell you exactly what that means either… and that sucks. Maybe the band just means "hibernation" like they'll be back to tour next spring? Maybe it'll be a few months, maybe it'll be a year or so. Whatever happens, we'll all be ready and waiting to hear anything from the band!

"An exceptional blend of classic and modern Opeth whose unified approach is both alluring and slightly problematic."
