Whitechapel is here to utterly fuck your day up with their new single "Hymns In Dissonance" and accompanying video by David Brodsky and Allison Woest of My Good Eye Visuals. The single comes from Whitechapel's seemingly-way-heavier new record of the same name, due out March 7. Pre-orders are available here.
"No holds barred; there is nothing nice about HID, from the riffs to the lyrics to the overall vibe of the album," said Whitechapel guitarist Alex Wade. "We attempted to write our heaviest album to date. We wanted to put out something that was shockingly menacing and brutal."
He continued: "The album follows the story of a cultist who is gathering worthy people to join his cult, and there are moments in the storyline where the cult followers are singing an evil hymn to open a portal for the head cultist to enter."
Whitechapel vocalist Phil Bozeman added: "Hymns in Dissonance is a mockery of the true nature of what hymns are. Hymns are melodious and harmonious. Dissonance is the opposite of melody and harmony. Dissonance represents evil. The tracks on the record are the hymns, which represent the seven deadly sins, beginning from Track 3 to Track 10. Tracks one and two are the introduction."
Whitechapel will hit the road for their Hymns In Dissonance Tour for North America featuring openers Brand Of Sacrifice, 200 Stab Wounds, and Alluvial. The tour runs from March 18 in Raleigh, NC through April 19 in Atlanta, GA. Tickets are available here.
