Hannes Grossmann, current drummer for Obscura, recently released his solo album titled The Radial Covenant and it's nothing short of friggin' ridiculous. It's everything you'd want from a technical death metal album with a heaping side of catchiness, because Grossmann knows damn well how to pen a jam.
"Whoa dude, there's vocals and stuff… who's doing that?" Well imaginary person acting as a hypothetical reader I'm talking to right now, let me enlighten you! Taken directly from Grossmann's Bandcamp where you should go spend your money right now:
- Jeff Loomis (Ex-Nevermore, Conquering Dystopia) – lead guitars
- Per Nilsson (Scar Symmetry) – lead guitars
- Christian Muenzner (Obscura, Spawn of Possession) – lead guitars
- Fountainhead – lead guitars
- Danny Tunker (Aborted, Ex-God Dethroned) – lead guitars
- Ron Jarzombek (Watchtower, Blotted Science, Spastic Ink) – lead guitars
- Jimmy Pitts – Keyboards, Organ and Synth
- Morean (Dark Fortress, Noneuclid) – Vocals
- V.Santura (Triptykon, Dark Fortress) – Vocals
- Linus Klausenitzer (Obscura, Noneuclid) – Bass
Now about that song, right? Of course a lot of people are crying that it's just an Obscura ripoff, but there's very much a unique voice shining through the writing in this- it's got elements of Obscura's writing, sure, but ideas are hung on to longer here and the riffs are much more spacey. Jam!
