MEGADETH's David Ellefson & ANTHRAX's Frankie Bello Announce New Collaborative EP, Altitudes & Attitude

The low-end purveyors of two of the Big 4 of Thrash have united for a new project. Megadeth bassist David Ellefson and Anthrax bassist Frankie Bello have announced a new project that the two are collaborating on called Altitudes & Attitude.

The two got the idea to collaborate at all the Metal Masters clinics they've been doing (incidentally, there will be another one of these clinics next month streaming on Gear Gods). Frankie handles vocals, while David laid down the guitar and bass tracks, and A Perfect Circle’s Jeff Friedl played drums on the EP. Gus G. of Firewind and Ozzy's solo band contributes a solo to one of the tracks as well.

The EP will have an official release on January 14th through Megaforce Records, but you can get your first taste of the music right here. It sounds like fun Thin Lizzy-inspired hard rock, not bad at all.

"What started out as simple bass ideas quickly developed into some really great songs together," says Ellefson. "Our fans would probably never suspect that a couple of metal bass players would have songs like these inside of us. It's exciting to write melody with diversity while still pushing the limits of lead-bass playing. Frank's singing, and both of us playing guitars and other instruments, gave us a whole new dimension for creative opportunities."

"We thought it would be cool to let fans hear something they wouldn't expect from us — which is what Altitudes& Attitudes is," adds Bello.
