Dream Theater vocalist James LaBrie hasn't done a new solo album since Impermanent Resonance in 2013, but he's hoping to change that next year. LaBrie tells Hyde Archives he's been talking to keyboardist and vocalist Matt Guillory about putting some new music together soon, and releasing it late next year.
"Matt [Guillory] and I just started speaking. We thought over a year and a half ago [that] we were going to start writing material for the follow-up to Impermanent Resonance. Matt's a very busy guy — he lives out in California [and] I'm up in Canada, and the schedules just didn't dictate us getting together and starting to put the material together. But we did speak a few weeks ago, so we're hoping that we can start to finally put some music together. Hopefully there will be something, maybe, I'm thinking late 2020."
For those unfamiliar, LaBrie's solo stuff is a lot less Dream Theater-y and a whole lot more in the vein of melodic death metal. Especially with Darkane drummer Peter Wildoer providing all the drums and all the harsh vocals. It's definitely worth checking out!
