Into The Great Divide will release its self-titled debut album on January 26 and the concept is pretty cool. The album is an "instrumental progressive rock novel" with narration by voice actor Larry Davis, drums by Dream Theater's Mike Mangini, and the whole thing is produced by longtime Dream Theater & Rush producer Richard Chycki. Into The Great Divide is headed up by a "mastermind," though that person has not yet identified themselves to the public… so just get stoked on the Dream Theater bits right now.
Check out Into The Great Divide's debut song "Tests & Enemies" above. Here's what the band had to say about the track, which is just so goddamn good… and reminds me of early Dream Theater.
”The goal is for listeners to join the journey, and perhaps in the process to see progressive rock as a much more approachable musical form than they may have thought. And ultimately to experience an entirely new way of telling a story. Once you fall Into The Great Divide, you – and the world around you – may very well never be the same ever again."
Also, I'm gonna go ahead and take a stab at the lineup for this band – Mangini, Dream Theater's John Petrucci on guitars, either Dream Theater's Jordan Rudess or Yes' Rick Wakeman on keys, and Tony Levin on bass.
