SLIPKNOT Guitarist Jim Root Just Underwent Serious Back Surgery

Slipknot is having a rough case of injuries. At the start of the summer, the band had to push back their tour a few weeks so that frontman Corey Taylor could have emergency spinal surgery. Turns out he wasn't the only Slipknot member going under the knife this summer.

Yesterday, Jim Root revealed that he had just completed disc replacement surgery in his back due to having fractured vertebrae and hemorrhaged disks. Root revealed the news in an Instagram post, stating:

[It] seems as if fractured vertebrae and hemorrhaged disks are an occupational hazard for metal bands. So, early in the morning after Louder Than Life in Louisville I flew out for disk replacement surgery. [I] had the procedure [Tuesday] morning and other than being a bit sore and spun out from jet lag and Norcos [an opiate for pain relief], it's all good. Although I won't be as "mobile" onstage as before, I'm looking very forward to the upcoming Knotfest shows and places we'll be going in between.

Root seemed in good spirits joking towards the end of the message (which you can read in full below) and making it clear he will be back shortly.

Slipknot's next gig is Knotfest Mexico in 10 days, and Root implies he will be there performing. What a fucking trooper!
