My Dying Bride

Welcome to Writer's Bloc, the series on Metal Injection where artists pick their favorite song from their brand new record and talk a little about it! For this installment, we've got My Dying Bride vocalist Aaron Stainthorpe talking about the band's new record A Mortal Binding. Check out Stainthorpe's answers below and get A Mortal Binding here. You can also check out the entirety of the Writer's Bloc series here.

What is your favorite song off your upcoming record?

"'The Apocalyptist' as it is based on several dreams I had at the time which were somewhat disturbing but I felt the need to write about them in a way of exorcising from my mind and sending them elsewhere.

Why's it your favorite?

"It's an epic that encompasses all manner of issues and life choices and is twisted up in biblical imagery and Armageddon, typical My Dying Bride subjects really."

Why wasn't it a single?

"It's a bit too long really for a single, although that didn't stop us releasing 'The Barghest O'Whitby' (27 minutes) but these days singles are accompanied with a video and it's way too expensive to created epic videos."
