If you've been holding back seeing Alice In Chains recently, do yourself a favor and go see them. They are so damn good live. William DuVall does an incredible job as vocalist, and the band as a whole pay tribute beautifully to Layne Staley and Mike Starr.
During their Hellfest performance on June 24th, founding guitarist Jerry Cantrell paid tribute to Layne and Mike but also made sure to send a few words to his longtime friend Vinnie Paul. Layne was very close with the Abbott Brothers, even showing up to Christmas ragers at their home.
"Almost every night, we like to play a song for our good friend [late Alice in Chains frontman] Layne Staley and [late Alice in Chains bassist] Mike Starr, and we're gonna do that," guitarist Jerry Cantrell explained to the crowd prior to charging into the Jar of Flies staple. "But I'd like to play this one for Vinnie Paul."
Vinnie Paul tragically passed away this weekend at his home in Las Vegas. Tributes have been pouring in all week.
