Before Rammstein was even able to release the full music video for their new single, "Deutschland," they were already facing some serious critiques. Reuters reports some Jewish leaders in Germany have blasting the preview teaser for making light of the Holocaust.
Charlotte Knobloch, former president of the Central Council of Jews in Germany and Holocaust survivor, said “With this video, the band has crossed a line. The instrumentalisation and trivialisation of the Holocaust, as shown in the images, is irresponsible.”
The German government's commissioner for anti-semitism, Felix Klein, said the band "crossed a line" with the imagery in this teaser. “I consider this a tasteless exploitation of artistic freedom,” he added.
Well, they're probably not going to like the full video for the song that just premiered, which goes even further with the Holocaust imagery and features band members being hung. Overall, it's exactly what you expect out of a Rammstein video. The video was directed by Specter Berlin.
The band confirmed today that their new album will be released on May 17th.
