Korn frontman Jonathan Davis' new song "Basic Needs" isn't a big, raucous affair. Instead, the song up to about 3:30 is a pretty catchy power ballad with a monstrous chorus. That chorus returns toward the end of the song, but not before Davis takes a hard left turn with a very Western middle section. Overall the song is pretty good, but the diversion into that instrumental bit seemed like a bit of a weird choice that almost feels like a whole new track, right?
Jonathan Davis' new solo album Black Labyrinth is out on May 25 via Sumerian Records. Davis is currently out on the road in support of the album, so you've still got plenty of chances to catch him before he goes back to do more Korn-related things.
