Crosses—the side project of Deftones singer Chino Moreno and Far guitarist Shaun Lopez—have released a video for the track “Protection,” which was released as a single in March along with another track, “Initiation.”
In the video, the camera is enamored with the glossy face before it, painted in rich-colored lipstick, while flash cuts of soft silhouettes and strobing white lights interchange between scenes of an enchanting siren and a crooning Moreno. Cut-out crosses and a mysterious classic car that charters our protagonists on a haunting ride to nowhere complete the scene.
Where are they heading? It's hard to say. However, if the intent with this video was to channel the same dark visual energy of Crosses musical influences—Depeche Mode, The Cure, Duran Duran—then mission accomplished, indeed. Stream both singles here.
