CODE ORANGE Drops Industrial New Song "Underneath"

This is way, way different than their previous material.

Code Orange recently unveiled a new interactive website loaded with Easter eggs and hints at new music. The band later confirmed they'd release a new song on January 10, and here we are. Code Orange is now streaming the title track of their new album Underneath alongside a cinematic music video directed by Max Moore.

"Underneath" is a pretty hard turn for Code Orange. The song shrugs off the band's usually jarring glitches and purposeful incoherencies, and instead takes a straightforward, almost Nine Inch Nails-esque approach to radio-friendly industrial. It might be my favorite thing this band has done to date.

Drummer and vocalist Jami Morgan gives a little more insight into Underneath.

"Underneath is about facing the duality in ourselves as individuals and as a society in an overcrowded, overexposed, all-consuming digital nirvana. Everyone has a voice and no one’s seems to matter… plummet down the rabbit hole of your deepest fears, anxieties and regrets to confront the monster that has been building underneath.

down.we.go”

Underneath is out March 13 and Code Orange have a handful of festival dates lined up in support of the release.

Apr 10 – Indio, CA – Coachella Valley Music and Arts Festival
Apr 17 – Indio, CA – Coachella Valley Music and Arts Festival
May 2 – Concord, SC – Epicenter Festival

May 17 – Columbus, OH – Sonic Temple Festival
