For the first time ever, legendary pro wrestler Chris Jericho combined the worlds of pro wrestling and rock music at sea with his sold-out and appropriately titled Chris Jericho's Rock and Wrestling Rager at Sea. Jericho teamed up with Sixthman, the same company responsible for themed cruises like The Walking Dead Walker Stalker cruise and The KISS Kruise – and the tag team combo certainly over delivered.
I've seen metal on the deck of a cruise, but never pro wrestling. I can't express how surreal that experience was. At one point, while in the middle of the ocean, an exotic bird just landed on the deck in the middle of a match. Everybody went nuts!
There was no real separation between wrestlers, musicians and fans. One time, while eating lunch in the buffet, I was sitting in between The Briscoe Brothers, Corey Taylor, and Sami Callihan. The food in general was top of the line. There were live podcast recordings, and it was so cool to see legendary talent like Rey Mysterio, DDP and Konnan talk with Jericho, reminiscing about Eddie Guerrero. Seeing legends like Raven and Mick Foley doing stand up comedy was also a treat.
Rock-wise, we had Kyng tearing down the house, Fozzy played to packed houses, and even did a set of just cover tunes, where they were joined by the likes of Corey FN Taylor. There were tribute bands for Ozzy and AC/DC playing all throughout the night, making sure the party didn't stop.
Everybody I talked to had a great time on the cruise, and we all agree – it needs to happen again!
