BOTANIST Streams "Aristolochia", Announces New Album

Botany-themed black metal is such a cool genre.

Bontanist is back with a new single "Aristolochia" – referring to a widespread family of evergreen and deciduous woody vines that act as fly-traps for pollination – and a new record dubbed Paleobotany, due out May 17. You can check out all the greenery and general heaviness above via a video by Andy Meyer.

"There are hundreds of species of pitcher plant, but the one that this song is about has been around since the Cretaceous period," said Bontanist mastermind Otrebor. "Aristolochia gigantea is the biggest member of this family and that is no coincidence. Giant creatures and giant plants went together!"

Paleobotany was mixed and mastered by Fredrik Nordström (Dimmu Borgir, Opeth, At The Gates, etc.) at Studio Fredman. Pre-orders are available here.
