Amon Amarth don't just slap a Viking metal label on their music and call it a day. Instead, they dig deep into history and come out with historically accurate representations of what the Vikings did, how they lived, and even the methods of transportations they used. In Amon Amarth's music video for "Shield Wall", the band produces a historically accurate portrayal of the battlefield tactics that Vikings were known and also notorious for.
Amon Amarth teamed up with director Phil Wallis, producers Alexander Milas/Twin V Ltd who also did the band's 2018 feature-length documentary The Pursuit of Vikings, and Viking scholar and battle reenactor Igor Górewicz of the Triglav and Jomsborg vikings for the video. "Shield Wall" was shot in Wolin, Poland, the site of the world-renowned annual Festival of Slavs and Vikings.
