Rumors of Iron Maiden’s Adrian Smith and Richie Kotzen, of the rock supergroup The Winery Dogs, have been swirling since earlier this year. With neither confirming their collaborative efforts until now! Working under the dual moniker, Smith/Kotzen, the two have debuted their new single "Taking My Chances".
This is some classic, high-energy, boogie-blues rock! Kotzen and Smith share the important business of lighting up the electric guitar with swaggering riffs and electric melodies, while Kotzen’s vocals offset the energy with a softer croon that makes me feel downright sentimental for that classic sound.
Smith says of the project, "I think Richie and I complement each other really well. He’s a virtuoso guitarist but he’s got a great sense of melody – the whole thing just felt very natural"
With Kotzen adding: "We found common ground in classic and blues-based rock. We both come from that mentality. We’ve been writing and recording together for the past year and I’m ecstatic with the results."
Sadly, even with this new single, we still do not know much about the project, or if we will be getting a full length album anytime soon, but we can hope!
