New The Haunted is very much like old The Haunted in terms of its lineup. The band still has original guitarist Patrik Jensen (Witchery) and bassist Jonas Björler (At The Gates), has regained original drummer Adrian Erlandsson (At The Gates, ex-Paradise Lost) in 2013, has re-enlisted vocalist Marco Aro who was with the band from 1999 to 2003, and snagged guitarist Ola Englund (Feared).
Which is why I was so surprised that the band's 2014 album Exit Wounds wasn't up to snuff. The album had some really great tracks, but overall struck me as a little off-kilter for the band and didn't stick with me in the long run. Fortunately, The Haunted just re-signed to Century Media and has announced that a new album is likely coming in 2017!
"We are very pleased to announce that The Haunted has re-signed with Century Media Records, expecting a new album in 2017. Right now we're in pre-production mode and the material we have now sounds really heavy and thrashing."
So we'll see. Can The Haunted rise back to the glory that was albums like Revolver and Made Me Do It?
