Tenacious D recently revealed they're working on the follow-up to their 2018 album Post-Apocalypto. At the time, Tenacious D vocalist and guitarist Jack Black said "we can't really talk about [the album] because it's too powerful" and later added that the band is traveling to "all the power spots on the planet where the chakras are most enhanced… whatever it takes." You know, totally normal Tenacious D shit.
Now Black has spilled a little more information about the record to SmartLess podcast co-host Jason Bateman. In the interview, Black vaguely stated that "I am playing music with [Tenacious D co-founder] Kyle Gass. We're still touring and we got a very big project coming up that I can't really tell you anything about." Then Black added "We got a concept album coming down the pike." So who knows – maybe it'll be something new, or maybe it'll be Pick Of Destiny 2? Black stated in 2018 that there was a Pick Of Destiny sequel in the works, simply saying at the time "I don't know where you'll be able to see it, but we have decided that it's happening and it's coming out."
Tenacious D recently released their long-awaited medley of The Who's "Pinball Wizard," "There's A Doctor," and "Go To The Mirror!" The medley is available on all streaming services and on 7" vinyl. Get 'em here. The 7" ships sometime around September and all proceeds will go to the Everytown For Gun Safety charity, which of course is top-of-mind for a lot of folks in the wake of such horrific shootings as the one in Uvalde, TX.
