SWALLOW THE SUN Is Dropping A Triple Album In November

Dude, a triple album.

Dude, a triple album.

Finnish melo-doom group Swallow The Sun has been around since 2000 and has garnered quite a fan base since. Despite that fan base, is anyone ready for a triple album?! The album will be called Songs From The North I, II & III and will be released sometime in November.

Look, I'm a Swallow The Sun fan, but a triple album has potential to be pushing it hard in terms of keeping people's attention. I'm definitely going to take a listen all the way through when it's out, because I'm still curious and historically Swallow The Sun has been a solid group, but damn… that's three hours or so of music!

Guitarist Juha Raivio has some thoughts on the album as well.

"Making a triple album in this godforsaken digital and modern day and age…Many will say it's madness. I say it is to bring worth, heart and respect back into the music and to the album format where it belongs. This should never turn into a shallow fast food industry where music is only downloaded one song at a time. These albums hold life, death, gloom, beauty and despair in their deepest levels and forms. The three chapters are different but connected, one long journey through these songs written up here in the North."

So we'll see. I'm hoping it's the first triple album I ever hear and the first good triple album I'll ever hear.
