For the first time since 2009, we're getting a proper studio record from Sunn O))) sans any collaborators! The album will be called Kannon and is due out on December 4 via Southern Lord Records. Outside the usual Sunn O))) duo of Stephen O'Malley and Greg Anderson, the album's lineup will also include longtime guests Attila Csihar, Oren Ambarchi, Rex Ritter, and Steve Moore among others!
The album will also consist of three songs, titled "Kannon" one through three. Sunn O))) has been collaborating with the likes of Ulver, Nurse With Wound and Scott Walker since Monoliths and Dimensions in 2009, so it'll be really interesting to see what the group has taken from working with greats like that!
So we'll see. Here's hoping one of the three movements gets released soon? Or the whole album just shows up.
