While we're all waiting for a new Judas Priest album, vocalist Rob Halford has revealed he's working on his own solo record. Halford tells the Paltrocast With Darren Paltrowitz podcast that he's started writing his solo blues album with family and friends.

"It is, and I'll give you an exclusive: it's already begun. I've been working on this blues album with my brother and my nephew and friends that I worked with together on the Celestial album. We had such a great time, and they're so talented. And that blues thing has never left me; it's just part of rock and roll.

"So, it's begun. We're slowly putting bits and pieces together. There's no timeline on it. We're kicking the tires, and I've already got some bits of ideas here and there, and they sound great."

For those unfamiliar, Halford's Celestial album featured Halford's brother Nigel on drums; Alex, son of Judas Priest bassist Ian Hill, on bass; Halford's sister Sue on bells; and guitarists Robert Jones and Jon Blakey.

Halford will also release his autobiography Confess on September 29. The autobiography was written with with Ian Gittins, co-writer of The Heroin Diaries by Nikki Sixx, and is described by Halford as "a unique once-in-a-lifetime opportunity for me to expose every facet of myself."
