Although they're not technically metal, I take any opportunity I can to talk about O'Brother, one of my favorite acts in the world since their debut album entered my life in 2011. Even then I often regarded them as the answer to the question "What if Cliff Burton joined Radiohead?" and they have since continued to release jaw dropping emotionally flawless albums, and from the looks of it, are about to do it once again!
As per the band's Instagram page, they are currently in studio working on their fourth full length album in the snippet below. The album will be their first since their 2016 masterpiece, Endless Light, which was clearly one of my favorite albums of the year.
From the short clip they've shared, we can already hear their signature mix of captivatingly melodic and melancholically driven sounds, which once again has me excited to hear the rest. Now the hard part is waiting for the damn thing to come out!
