This week's new heavy metal releases include a death obsessed metal, Depeche Mode covers, doooooooooooooooooooom, and more! To the metals…

Cloak – Black Flame Eternal

Genre: Black/heavy metal
Origin: Atlanta, Georgia
Label: Season Of Mist

Starting this week with a love letter to all things metal. This is thrashy and blackened with solid heavy metal riffage throughout. If you're a fan of Tribulation, but wish at they listened to more Motörhead, then this should be your jam. A full review by Jeff is here.

Immortal – War Against All

THE WEEKLY INJECTION: New Releases From IMMORTAL, METAL CHURCH & More Out Today 5/26

Genre: Black metal
Origin: Bergen, Norway
Label: Nuclear Blast

Demonaz has returned once more flying the Immortal flag. The songs are frosty and retain all the trademarks of the legendary name. While he's got help from a hired rhythm section in Kevin Kvåle and Ice Dale, this is basically a solo affair from Demonaz. While I'm sure there is a delineation to him, I do wonder why this isn't just a solo album which he has done before. Jeff's review is here.

Metal Church – Congregation Of Annihilation

THE WEEKLY INJECTION: New Releases From IMMORTAL, METAL CHURCH & More Out Today 5/26

Genre: Heavy metal
Origin: San Francisco, California
Label: Rat Pak

Armed with a new vocalist in Marc Lopes (Ross the Boss, Let Us Prey) Metal Church's first album in five years will get heads bobbing. The vocals are high, the rhythms are galloping, and the guitar work is classic metal. Kurdt Vanderhoof and his gang still got it.

Sirenia – 1977

THE WEEKLY INJECTION: New Releases From IMMORTAL, METAL CHURCH & More Out Today 5/26

Genre: Gothic/symphonic metal
Origin: Stavanger, Norway
Label: Napalm Records

This one is for the bands of the epic. Sirenia's eleventh record once again his pairing soaring vocals, mid-tempo grooves, and grand symphonic elements. I read that the band drew influences from sounds from the late 70's and early 80's, though I couldn't explicitly find why it's called 1977. So, I'm just going to guess it's a nod to when Styx releases The Grand Illusion.

SOM – Faith

THE WEEKLY INJECTION: New Releases From IMMORTAL, METAL CHURCH & More Out Today 5/26

Genre: Depeche Mode covers/post-metal
Origin: Massachusetts/Pennslyvania
Label: Sonic Ritual

This is pretty neat! The band made of past/present/touring members of Adai, Junius, Rosetta, and Caspian have dropped an EP of Depeche Mode covers. The band's already established post-metal heaviness and atmosphere allows them to put their own spin on these while retaining the original versions' iconic melodies and mood.

Usnea – Buried In Light

THE WEEKLY INJECTION: New Releases From IMMORTAL, METAL CHURCH & More Out Today 5/26

Genre: Blackened doom
Origin: Portland, Oregon
Label: Translation Loss

Buy now on Bandcamp

Now let's slow things way down. This is melancholic heaviness at its best. Everything is down tuned and fuzzed out, and the anticipation between percussion strikes adds to the tension.

Vomitory – All Heads Are Gonna Roll

THE WEEKLY INJECTION: New Releases From IMMORTAL, METAL CHURCH & More Out Today 5/26

Genre: Death metal
Origin: Forshaga, Sweden
Label: Metal Blade

Buy now on Bandcamp

Wrapping this week with some straight up death metal. The band's first album in twelve years is a violent one with four songs with dead or death in the title. Pretty sure blood will trickle out of your speakers when you play this.
