Weekly Injection

THE WEEKLY INJECTION: New Releases From EXHUMED, CALL OF THE VOID and More Out Today – 2/10

As You're reading this, I am still recovering from Pizza Day. "Is that a thing," you ask stupidly? Yes. It is according to my calendar of obscure holidays, therefore it is fact. Now, go out and have some pizza if you failed to yesterday. this edition includes a supergroup of people I'm not familiar with, new recordings of old stuff, and more! To the metals…

Adrenaline Mob – Dearly Departed 91E5bOBXPPL._SL1500_

Genre: Rock/Groove metal
Origin: New York City, New York
Label: Century Media

Buy now on Amazon.com

Russell Allen and friends are back with a bunch over songs you didn't know you wanted. Features a surprisingly solid cover of "The Devil Went Down To Georgia," some Sabbath, some Queen, and other covers and acoustic versions of their stuff.

Call Of The Void – Ageless 61sj5M1xbEL

Genre: Hardcore/Sludge
Origin: Boulder, Colorado
Label: Relapse

Buy now on Amazon.com

Noise and insane, Call of the Void are still up to what they do best. Their much anticipated follow-up to Dragged Down a Dead End Path features one of the most effect, nightmare inducing covers I've seen in a long while. I don't even know what's going on with that face/skull, but it's got me just the right amount of fucked up right now.

Exhumed – Gore Metal Redux: A Necrospective 61yiRzwsoOL

Genre: Death metal
Origin: San Jose, California
Label: Relapse

Buy now on Amazon.com

If you had never heard of Exhumed, you'd probably make the safe bet that these guys play death metal. I'm guessing they decided to rerecord this now that recording technology is better, or to stick it to everyone else Matt Harvey worked with in 1998, or something. No matter the reason, the material is just as savage as it was then.

Thulcandra – Ascension Lost 91xXSIvd7tL._SL1500_

Genre: Black metal
Origin: Munich, Germany
Label: Napalm

Buy now on Amazon.com

With this release, Thulcanra further cements themselves as my favorite Steffen Kummerer project. While I have yet to really dive into this one beyond the accompanying sampler thingy below, if it's anywhere near as good as Under a Frozen Sun I shan't be disappointed.
