This edition includes lots of feedback, weirdness, metal icons, and more! To the metals…
Black Tusk – T.C.B.T.
Origin: Savannah, Georgia
Label: Season Of Mist
This album is a two headed monster with one head delivery pleasant rock jams, and the other unleashing lurching horror. The band even dabbles in the realm of old school punk. Overall, this is a diverse release which can be a hard thing to find in their corner of metal.
Doro – Forever Warriors, Forever United
Genre: Heavy metal
Origin: Düsseldorf, Germany
Label: Nuclear Blast
One of metal's most iconic voices has returned with a pair of albums that will get a fist in the air. This is classic metal at its finest. The album even features a rather surprising guest in Amon Amarth's Johan Hegg who bellows like a demon on the included track below.
Moonspell – Lisboa Under The Spell DVD/CD
Genre: Gothic metal
Origin: Brandoa, Portugal
Moonspell have released a ton of material in their roughly thirty years as a band. Lisboa Under The Spell is a live collection that includes performances of twenty-nine tracks over almost three hours. So, if you're a fan of the band, this is the marathon of a live album you've wanted.
Primitive Man/Unearthy Trance – Split
Origin: Denver, Colorado/New York City, New York
Golly, split releases are sure all the rage these days. If you want some sludge with a side of sludge though, this should be your pick for the week. It features four Unearthly Trance jams and three Primitive Man jams, so there isn't much to be mad at here.
Rebel Wizard – Voluptuous Worship Of Rapture and Response
Genre: Black metal/heavy metal
Origin: Melbourne, Australia
There is a song on this called "Drunk on the Wizdom of Unicorn Semen." Enough said. Listen to this album.
Trappist – Ancient Brewing Tactics
Origin: Los Angeles, California
Like all good hardcore albums this is full of feedback, chaos, and riffs. This one is made even better with appearances from chaps from Torche, Municipal Waste, and Pig Destroyer.
Zevious – Lowlands
Genre: Progressive metal
Origin: New York, New York
Label: Nefarious Industries
Buy now on Bandcamp
Gonna end this week with a band that is quite unique. Take a some sludge, take some prog, and a dash of jazz and you have the incredible good Zevious. Lowlands is all atypical rhythms and general weirdness. This was a great way to get introduced to a band that is worthy of your attention.
