Weekly Injection

THE WEEKLY INJECTION: New Releases From BORIS, FINNTROLL and More Out Today – 6/17

If it weren't for two albums dropping this week, I'd call this a slow week. However, I love me some Japanese doom and experimental stoner. Other stuff is dropping too. To the metals…

Boris – Noise 715Iyy1HvEL._SL1500_

Genre: Stoner
Origin: Tokyo, Japan
Label: Sargent House

Buy now on Amazon.com

Japan's long running sometimes drone, sometimes doom, sometimes pop, sometimes whatever-the-fuck-they-want band has returned with another great album. Like recent Sargent House Records releases Heavy Rocks II and New Album, this album strays from the drone, and instead embraces the catchy as fuck stoner angle the band takes from time to time. A great release by a great band. ALSO! Adorable, evil cat on the cover.

Feed The Rhino – The Sorrow and The Sound81eJ1xn7OdL._SL1400_

Genre:
Origin: Kent, England
Label: Siege Of Amida

Buy now on Amazon.com

With the success of Kvelertak, I'm not surprised to hear a push of hardcore/hard rock crossover bands. Fans of Every Time I Die and Cancer Bats should listen up too.

Finntroll – Natten Med De Levande Finntroll Live 81zhHe9jhDL._SL1500_

Genre: Humppa folk metal
Origin: Helsinki, Finland
Label: Spinefarm

Buy now on Amazon.com

Right here we've got a live album from the world's favorite Finnish band with "troll" in their name. Features lovely tunes like "Blodnatt," "Rivfader," "Kitteldags," and more! Enjoy this shitty footage until you can get your grubby hands on the proshot set.

Moab – Billow Ill_Clinton_12Jkt

Genre: Psychedelic doom
Origin: Los Angeles, California
Label: Scion AV

Scion really has a knack for pushing great unique bands, and specifically stoner/doom bands. I've never listened to Moab prior to this entry, but god dammit are they awesome. They're catchy, heavy, weird and just all around great. I'll be grabbing this free album today for sure.

Wo Fat – The Conjuring wo-fat-the-conjuring

Genre: Psychedelic stoner
Origin: Dallas, Texas
Label: Small Stone

Buy now on Amazon.com

Rounding out this week's mostly low-tuned Weekly Injection is this Texan psych power trio. This band sounds like Orange Goblin if they slowed way the hell down, with a touch of Kyuss.
