Weekly Injection

THE WEEKLY INJECTION: New Releases From BLOODBATH, SCOTT IAN and More Out Today – 11/18

Morning y'all. This week's edition features Bloodbath and some other stuff. To the metals…

Bloodbath – Grand Morbid Funeral 51mvaU5Hb+L

Genre: Death metal
Origin: Stockholm, Sweden
Label: Peaceville

Now with Nick Holmes of Paradise Lost on the mic, Bloodbath are back in full force. His performance is better than I expected. Not that he's bad or anything, it's just this is very different than Paradise Lost. Get stoked for the next chapter of the band sans Akerfeldt (second, actually).

Cadaveria – Silence Silence

Genre: Gothic metal
Origin: Biella, Italy
Label: Scarlet

Buy now on Amazon.com

Like if The Agonist decided to take a page out of Cradle of Filth's book. Blackened-ish, but more into the theatrics than corpse paint. Still not quite Opera IX, but whatever.

In This Moment – Black Widow 81Agao6JwWL._SL1500_

Genre: Metalcore
Origin: Los Angeles, California
Label: Atlantic

Buy now on Amazon.com

I would have never guessed that this band would be so huge after they played Ozzfest. There's a section of you that will be pissy because I included them at all, but they are a good gateway band into metal. If you know someone into them, there's hope for better things. Anyway, they have some djenty moments on the lead single for the album, so they're expanding their sound a bit too. Stream it all here.

Monster Magnet – Milking The Stars: A Re-Imagining of Lost Patrol61RcY0f4CtL

Genre: Stoner
Origin: Red Bank, New Jersey
Label: Napalm

Buy now on Amazon.com

Some new songs and some remixes. There was a goal to create a 60's vibe of this version of their last album. Seems like normal pretty good Monster Magnet to me, I don't follow them closely though.

Scott Ian – Swearing Words in Glasgow DVD 71uLgj6bUaL._SL1145_

Genre: Spoken word
Origin: Queens, New York
Label: Megaforce

Buy now on Amazon.com

Scott Ian is pulling a Henry Rollins and going out bandless and telling stories, and is doing it well. The few clips of his stories that I've seen are compelling and funny. It's not metal, hell it isn't music, but it's a metal guy telling metal stories.
