Weekly Injection

THE WEEKLY INJECTION: New Releases From AUTOPSY, DANZIG, STONE SOUR, and More Out Today – 11/27

Happy trample people for a Bratz doll day nerds! This Black Friday Edition (which is really a pretty standard edition) features new stuff from some legends, some covers, some sludge, and more! To the metals…

Autopsy – Skull Grinder autopsy2sept

Genre: Death Metal
Origin: Oakland, California
Label: Peaceville

Buy now on Amazon.com

A vinyl only release from the death metal legends. These six tracks on this EP should hold you over until their next full-length onslaught. It's safe to assume there will be a digital release for you anti-wax types.

Converge – Thousands Of Miles Between Us DVD 81sNKHuoqCL._SL1425_

Genre: Mathcore
Origin: Salem, Massachusetts
Label: Deathwish

Buy now on Amazon.com

I've seen this band live, and they are fucking intensity personified. This is an attempt to put that intensity on your television. I recommend kicking the shit out of yourself to recreate the live Converge experience.

Danzig – Skeletons 81W0pDoXaqL._SL1500_

Genre: Heavy metal
Origin: Lodi, New Jersey
Label: Evillive

Buy now on Amazon.com

I feel like I've heard about this release for a while now, and the day is finally upon us. Glenn and friends cover classics by Black Sabbath, ZZ Top, Elvis and a lot more. His trademark bellow doesn't really do it for me on several of these, but fans of the ex-Misfit will likely eat this up.

The Melvins – Across The USA In 51 Days: The Movie DVD 71tERzOwUpL._SL1500_

Genre: Stoner/Various
Origin: Montesano, Washington
Label: Ipecac

Buy now on Amazon.com

Now this isn't quite a full on album, or even a live album, but a metal documentary about a silly, but awesome feat. As the title suggests The Melvins played every state in as many days (and Washington DC). Should be an entertaining watch and might be educational in some ways for younger touring bands.

The Moth Gatherer – The Earth Is The Sky 718rDjJg-DL._SL1500_

Genre: Sludge/Stoner
Origin: Stockholm, Sweden
Label: Agonia

Buy now on Amazon.com

Really, REALLY heavy. Fucking epic too. Fans of Neurosis, Cult of Luna, Callisto, and any of your bands that love a lurching atmosphere should get on this.

Stone Sour – Straight Outta Burbank stonesourstraightouttacd_0

Genre: Covers
Origin: Des Moines, Iowa
Label: Roadrunner

Buy now at a Record Store as part of Black Friday

More covers in this edition of the Weekly Injection. Stone Sour have returned with another EP of covers, the second of three it seems. This time they're covering The Rolling Stones, Iron Maiden, Bad Brains, Slayer, and Motley Crue. Their covers seem to be pretty true to the originals, which is kind of neat.

Vision Of Disorder – Razed To The Ground 916YMS5F+kL._SL1500_

Genre: Hardcore
Origin: Long Island, New York
Label: Candlelight

Buy now on Amazon.com

There's been a lot of growth to this band. A 20+ hardcore band could stagnate pretty easily (I can think of a few that have, and no one seems to care). Perhaps it's comes from age of these particular dudes, or perhaps it comes from splitting at reuniting a bunch. Regardless, this album is a really interesting listen whether you know the history or not.
