This edition includes stoner rock, stoner metal, and some other stuff probably. To the metals…
ASG – Survive Sunrise
Genre: Stoner rock
Origin: Wilmington, North Carolina
Label: Relapse
ASG are already a solid band, but in a move I wasn't expecting, they're dropping one of the best stoner rock records I've heard in a long, long time. Melodies are catchy as fuck, and there is a through line of atmosphere and emotion, yet they're still bringing riffs like one would expect.

Begat The Nephilim – Begat the Nephilim I: The Surreptitious/ Mother of Blasphemy
Genre: Death metal
Origin: Southern NH
Label: Prophecy / Mother of the Blasphemy
I felt bad including sooooooooo much stoner rock in this week's entry, so I thought I'd give these guys a shot, and I don't regret it. This is techy death metal done well. A really solid debut.

Funeral Horse – Psalms For The Mourning
Genre: Stoner metal
Origin: Houston, Texas
Label: Artificial Head Records
Buy and sample now on Bandcamp
There is an accidental theme in this week's Weekly Injection, because here we have more stoner jams. Funeral Horse are a bit slower and straight up riff oriented than ASG, but they there is a lot of experimenting with guitar trickery.
Here Lies Man – You Will Know Nothing
Genre: Stoner/Afrobeat
Origin: Los Angeles, California
Label: RidingEasy Records
When PR folks are trying to sell this band, I often read that Here Lies Man is "If Black Sabbath played Afrobeat." It's not a combination I ever thought I needed in my life, but it's a wonderful mix. This album is all about rhythm and psychedelic elements. It's like the Sabbath song "Supernaut" if it became an album of its own.

Madball – For The Cause
Genre: Hardcore
Origin: New York, New York
Label: Nuclear Blast
Sick of stoner metal, well here you go. Here are a bunch of pissed off dudes dropping some pissed of hardcore for pissed off people. If you want to open a pit up in your car or on the bus or somewhere, this will be your soundtrack for the week.

Orange Goblin – The Wolf Bites Back
Genre: Stoner metal
Origin: London, England
Label: Candlelight/Spinefarm
Aaaaaaaaaand we're back to the smoky tunes. Orange Goblin have returned after four years to once again prove why one they're one of the most consistently solid bands out. The energy is higher on this than most of the other bands above, so this one is for the productive stoner. This also concludes my accidental stoner rock/metal showcase.

Spotlights – Hanging By Faith
Genre: Sludge/ambient
Origin: Brooklyn, New York
Label: Ipecac Recordings
Last year Spotlights released a really solid album in Seismic, and now they're dropping this EP that includes remixes, and a cover of a Cure song (check that out below). It's a fun addendum to the record and should be enjoyable for fans.
