Will the follow-up to 2008's Chinese Democracy be the new Chinese Democracy in terms of hype?
With Guns N Roses on hiatus from touring at the moment, both Slash and Duff McKagan are out promoting solo works. That means they're doing interviews and guess what the press is asking about? New GNR!
Slash has confirmed Guns N Roses are working on new material, and Duff has taken it a step further, saying he's heard new material. Duff spoke to Eddie Trunk and was asked if the new Guns N Roses is real, to which Duff replied "Oh, it's real." and then added “there’s been some jams going around.”
Here's the full quote:
“I’ve heard some magnificent stuff that Axlhas — really cool stuff he’d been working on. So I’m excited about the possibilities with that, of course. I don’t mean to get anybody rabid. [A new Guns N’ Roses album] will happen when it happens, that’s for sure.”
It will happen when it happens tells me that the group is going to take their sweet ass time.
What that means is we definitely won't be hearing new GNR in 2019. 2020? Probably unlikely. 2021? Maybe. 2022? Possibly. 2050? More likely.
We'll keep you abreast of all the GNR updates as they come.
