In the past fifteen years we've gotten three new Morbid Angel records, two of which went over pretty well and a third that was a little controversial to say the least. Then we got our hopes up in December when frontman David Vincent came out with the news that the band would be writing in the first half of 2015, meaning that if all went well we'd probably see it toward the end of the year. Nope!
According to a brief statement from drummer Tim Yeung in an interview, the process of getting a new record done probably won't start until the end of this year.
"I've been in Morbid Angel for freakin' five years — half a decade — and we're working on some material to do a new album hopefully sometime… Maybe start it at the end of this year."
Hey, who knows what the new stuff is going to sound like! 2011's Illud Divinum Insanus was a radical departure from what the group has been known for, so maybe Morbid Angel is taking the time to follow it up properly.
