Deftones have been saying maybe, possibly, a new album might be coming in September, and we're pretty sure they figured things out, based on what's going on with their social media.
Or rather, what's not going on. Deftones have gone completely dark with their pages.
Also, ThePRP reports that when you sign up for their mailing list, you get an image that looks like a circuit board, and they have figured out the clues:
A directory of ‘0925’ is also used upon signup. This has led to speculation of a potential release on September 25th, which falls on the standard album/single release date of a Friday. Digging into the source code of the site also turns up some notable entries, including “pageName”:”Album Artwork Release Page” and “Deftones:Email for Album Teaser:Landing”.
With the September tease previously, could the album be coming out September 25th? Chino Moreno previously said the band completed the record at the beginning of summer.
Deftones have a busy year of releases. According to drummer Abe Cunningham, the band is considering releasing the long-awaited "lost" album Eros as maybe an EP, saying "we have to get into all the legalities of it and all that stuff and also we have to finish it." Deftones is also working on a remix album of White Pony named Black Stallion.
"We’re gonna be releasing later in the year a reissue of the record and we’re going to do sort of a split side of the record, a remixed version of it titled Black Stallion," said Moreno. "So we have a bunch of different people on it, some that actually inspired some of the writing of the record itself, the original album. So it’s kind of come full circle."
