Germany's Blind Guardian is one of the undisputed heavyweights of power metal. Since 1988, the band has released a series of progressively grandiose albums that continually raise the bar higher for epic power metal . It's been a few years since Blind Guardian released an original album, but, come February 3rd, 2015, Hansi Kürsch and company will be releasing their brand new power metal opus, Beyond the Red Mirror.

Beyond the Red Mirror is a continuation of the story line introduced in 1995's Imaginations from the Other Side. Without going into too much detail, the story involves multiple dimensions, gods, wizards, and the Holy Grail – the usual power metal fodder. This album sounds like it's going to be Blind Guardian's most ambitious release yet, with contributions from three separate classical choirs and two full orchestras. Nuclear Blast Records recently released a lyric video for the first single from the album called "Twilight of the Gods." While this is one of the least original titles for a heavy metal song, it still rocks in that very specific Blind Guardian way. There are enough overdubbed vocals and baroque thrash metal riffs to satisfy even the most jaded fans. Below you can check out the track list for Beyond the Red Mirror and stream the song.

  1. The Ninth Wave
  2. Twilight of the Gods
  3. Prophecies
  4. At the Edge of Time
  5. Ashes of Eternity
  6. Distant Memories (Bonus track on limited edition digi-pack version)
  7. The Holy Grail
