Sumac, if you're not already familiar, is the band featuring Aaron Turner on guitar (Isis, Old Man Gloom), Nick Yacyshyn on drums (Baptists), and Brian Cook on bass (Russian Circles, Botch). The group just released an absolutely devastating record titled What One Becomes recently that moves at a pace that makes Sleep look like a d-beat band at time, but holy shit is it heavy. For a sophomore effort, Sumac sounds like it's been around for 20 years (even though it sort of has).
The band will be hitting the road this August with Jon Mueller and Jaye Jayle, who you can check out below the dates, in celebration of What One Becomes, which you can get right here. It's probably a good idea to see Sumac when you can, because its lineup consists of dudes who are fairly busy!
