Of all the American festivals out there, the one that gets people talking the most lately seems to be Maryland Deathfest. And it makes sense. They seem to be the only guys doing the festival thing right: flying in bands who would probably not play the US otherwise, and mixing them with some American favorites. That plan has worked to perfection for nine years and the organizers of the tour hope to make it a solid decade of great festival promoting. The tenth iteration of Deathfest will once again take place at Baltimore's Sonar during Memorial Day weekend 2012 (May 24-27) and the first round of bands have been announced:
MORBID ANGEL
SAINT VITUS
MORGOTH (Germany)
ANVIL (Canada)
SUFFOCATION
CHURCH OF MISERY (Japan)
DEMIGOD (Finland)
GHOUL
UNSANE
MACABRE
THE DEVIL'S BLOOD (Netherlands)
BETHLEHEM (Germany)
NEGURA BUNGET (Romania)
TODAY IS THE DAY
ULCERATE (New Zealand)
THE DAY EVERYTHING BECAME NOTHING (Australia)
DRAGGED INTO SUNLIGHT (UK)
AGENTS OF ABHORRENCE (Australia)
NAUSEA (California)
BLOODY PHOENIX
Looks like a solid lineup already, but this is just the beginning. We'll keep you posted on more announcements.
