With Guns N Roses on hiatus from touring at the moment, both Slash and Duff McKagan are out promoting solo works. That means they're doing interviews and guess what the press is asking about? New GNR!
Slash has confirmed Guns N Roses are working on new material, saying in a recent interview:
"Axl, Duff, myself and Richard have all talked about… there's material and stuff going on already for a new record. It's just, with Guns N' Roses, you don't go, 'Oh, there is a plan, and it's gonna be like this,' because that's not how it works. So, basically, the only real answer to give is we're hoping to put a new record out, and we'll just see what happens when it happens."
Bassist Duff McKagan has taken it a step further, saying he's heard new material. Duff spoke to Eddie Trunk and was asked if the new Guns N Roses is real, to which Duff replied "Oh, it's real." and then added “there’s been some jams going around.”
Here's the full quote:
“I’ve heard some magnificent stuff that Axlhas — really cool stuff he’d been working on. So I’m excited about the possibilities with that, of course. I don’t mean to get anybody rabid. [A new Guns N’ Roses album] will happen when it happens, that’s for sure.”
Perhaps we might hear a new song at the fest this September? We'll have to wait and see.
