Australian Metal Legends SUNK LOTO Reforms With Original Lineup, Announces First Shows In 15 Years

After disbanding in 2007 following the release of one of Australia's greatest metal albums, Between Birth & Death, Sunk Loto have just announced their long awaited reunion featuring the band's original lineup – guitarist Luke McDonald, bassist Sean Van Gennip, vocalist Jason Brown and drummer Dane Brown.

Speaking with Metal Injection, McDonald notes "I had been sober from drugs & alcohol for about 13 months & decided to get in touch with the guys to tell them that I was sober & would love to have lunch & catch up on old times. It had been about 15 years since we had all been in a room together, however I believed if we all got together for lunch that it may be like old times when we used to just laugh & have a good time. I emailed, texted & called everyone & wallah! it happened! sufficed to say the lunch went great & we decided we should maybe have a jam session to see if we could still play well together!"

He continues "honestly, the first time we rehearsed after 15 years was quite a shock, it was like we hadn't been apart at all! after the first lunch we started a group chat online & decided we would all choose a song to learn & that way we could practice them at home for a few weeks before. One of the songs we chose to play through was a song from Between Birth & Death called "Help". It almost sounded flawless, after we finished playing, we all looked at each other & burst out laughing! it was such a beautiful moment between us. We are working diligently on this set list & the fans can expect to witness the best version of Sunk Loto anyone has ever heard.

When pressed about the possibility of new music from the band, McDonald said "I believe the possibilities are truly endless for a band like us, because we deeply care about making the best music we can & connecting with our fans. We have already been writing songs & have discussed making a new record. It's just what comes naturally with the excitement of being blessed with a second chance.  In addition to that, we already have a song that we may end up releasing from the Between Birth & Death sessions soon. I have no idea how this song didn't end up on the record? I think it's a showpiece & I would really like the fans to hear it. The song is called "Jaded" & the lyrics are uncannily relevant for what we have all been experiencing & going through the past few years in this strange time of the world."

He continues "Seeing the positive reactions from everyone has been so uplifting for us, we are so grateful to everyone for showing us love & support. On behalf of Sunk Loto, I would like to say thank you to all the fans for the support, encouragement & love, we are keenly looking forward to connecting with you guys at the live shows & hope we can make you proud."
