All these bands rule.

Whores tore up the Broken Goblet brewery in Bensalem, PA on December 14 and I think I'm still recovering. These were all the bands that played, and why you should see them.

Gre/ay kicked the night off with their combination of noise rock, screamo, and dreamy slowcore. Gre/ay had a great grasp on how to use effects to their advantage, how to weave in quiet parts through the chaos, and how to sprinkle it all with some serious technical skill. Gre/ay rarely faced the crowd, adding a very cool air of mystery to their performance.

Faking felt like if Primitive Man made noise rock. Faking is a three-piece that made an immediate statement with their appearance – one guitarist and vocalist, one drummer with a fucking gargantuan drum kit (you could fit a car into that bass drum), and one bass synth player that had an extremely meaty tone. Faking was pissed. Faking came to wreck shit, and they did.

I'm telling you right now – A Deer A Horse is going to be bigger than they are. A Deer A Horse was sludgy noise rock (it was a noise rock show – I dunno what to tell you) mixed with some serious Korn-esque grooves, punk, and alter native rock. Angela Phillips was enigmatic and animated as a vocalist and bassist, and had a band that could keep up with ease.

Whores is a fucking powerhouse. Period. This band played a brewery in Pennsylvania like they were playing a sold out show to 5,000 people in New York City. Every note and kick drum was a punch to the chest, every vocal line was from the heart. If Whores is in your town, run don't walk to whatever venue they're at.
